For admirers of Shevchenko’s poetry, we offer the unique collection “The Revived ‘Kobzar,’” compiled for the first time to mark the significant occasion of the Poet’s 200th birthday. The collection is based on the unique and most complete edition of the “Kobzar” of its time, published in Germany in the 1920s under the editorship of the renowned Vasyl Simovych. This “Revived ‘Kobzar’” is the result of nearly a decade of work by compiler Mykola Zubkov, who drew on a substantial number of both original and reprinted works by independent Shevchenko scholars—including diaspora periodicals from the 1920s to the 1990s—as well as numerous archival sources and the latest Ukrainian and foreign literary and historical research.
