Tenten is the first European comic book hero and a symbol of Belgium. During the 20th century, all of Europe was educated and learned about the universe through the adventures of a young Belgian reporter. The series of 24 books began with an album about the Soviet Union and its totalitarian regime, particularly about famine and collectivization.

According to the story, the reporter Tenten and his dog Milu travel to the Soviet Union to inform the readers of the Brussels newspaper "The 20th Century is Compressed" about the true state of affairs in the USSR. From the very beginning, the Belgian reporter is pursued by agents of the GPU, who try to harm his mission by any means. In an unspecified area (somewhere between Ukraine and Belarus), Tenten sees grain being requisitioned from the peasants and helps the peasants return it so that they do not die of hunger.

This is how the cult character of Belgian and European culture became a witness of the famine of 1921-23 in Ukraine.
