Shasta, a boy who grew up in a fisherman's family, overhears a conversation between his father and a noble lord and learns about his true origin. It turns out that as a baby he was found in an abandoned boat, but in reality, he might be the son of a knight!

At that moment, the lord's horse, who can speak human language, addresses Shasta and offers to journey together to Narnia, his homeland. Perhaps there the boy will be able to find his place in life.
